Did you know over four million apps are available to download for the Apple and Google Play stores? That’s a lot of products – which is both exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Instead of sifting through all two million (yeah, right), we decided to poll our office to see what they’ve been downloading. Our roundup includes topics such as mindfulness, productivity, financial, educational, and behavior change. Keep reading to see what made our list. Don’t see your fave? Add it in the comments to inspire us and others!
Six Apps To Download
1. Headspace
We’ve featured this one before, and it’s too good not to mention it again. Headspace is an excellent app if you’re hoping to add some mindfulness, meditation, or stress management into your life. They cover a wide variety of topics on everything from stress to focus to relationship building. It has a mix of articles, guided meditations, music, and more to choose from. Our team members especially love the sleep courses offered through the app, which are no more than 10 minutes long and work like a charm.
2. Duolingo
If you’re looking to develop a new skill this year, why not try out learning a new language. Duolingo is one app that makes it easy and is backed by some pretty solid research. In one study, Duolingo learners performed as well on reading and listening tests compared to university-level students who had completed five semesters of college. Pretty impressive! Plus, you have the option to learn over 30 different languages.
3. You Need A Budget (YNAB)
While it’s not free, this money app comes highly recommended by some of our team members. According to CNBC, it’s best suited for those serious about budgeting. It’s based on the zero-based budgeting system where every dollar spent gets an assignment and is specifically helpful for those trying to get out of debt. Your goals and spending categories are all customizable. Plus, it also offers educational resources, such as budgeting advice and over 100 free workshops each week.
4. TimeCap
5. IAmSober
Dry January has become a popular trend over the last several years, and if you’re hoping to join in this year, then this app may be a good one to download. IAmSober is a sobriety app that connects you with others sharing similar goals. According to their website, over 32 million people make a daily pledge to stay sober. From what we can tell, this app seems like a great way to build community and learn from others who are also making those hard changes a reality. One cool feature we love is the ability to see how much time and money you’ve saved throughout your sober streak.
6. Elevate
This app is on a mission to improve people’s minds through brain training. In fact, Fox Business describes it as having a personal trainer for your brain. How cool! The app initially gained popularity in 2014 after being named Apple’s App-of-the-Year, but it still remains popular today. It is designed to help expand your vocabulary with agility, sharpen your memory recall, build your speaking skills, and enhance your overall cognitive skills. Our staff enjoys the brain exercises.
The Bottom Line
This year boost your productivity and achieve your goals with a bit of help from an app (or two).
