Sam, a second-grade schoolteacher from Massachusetts, credits Lose It! for helping her lose 95 pounds since February 2021. Over the last ten years, she had steadily gained weight and knew that the quick fixes she had tried in the past weren’t sustainable long-term. They were usually restrictive, overly complicated, and time-consuming. For much of her life, her relationship with food had been unhealthy, and she attached feelings of guilt and anxiety to eating.
With Lose It!, Sam began to view food as fuel. Preparing meals has become a source of joy instead of a stressful chore. She maintains that spending just four minutes a day tracking the food she loves in Lose It! has changed her mindset and enabled her to lose the weight she had gained over the years in a positive and sustainable framework. Sam continues to use the app on a daily basis to help her maintain a healthy weight and log her wellness journey.
These days, keeping up with her second graders is relatively easy for Sam. She can run and play tag with them at recess, building happy memories with her students and feeling great while doing it. Her weight is no longer an obstacle to doing the things she loves, and she has a newfound confidence in herself – rediscovering activities that bring her joy, such as zip-lining and riding rollercoasters. Reflecting on how far she’s come, Sam offers advice to others who may be starting on their own path to better health, “I’d say start gradually, and make your goal attainable. Then, add a little more challenge. And when you keep adding, the next step is reaching a little farther than before. And before you know it, you’ve made progress without feeling overwhelmed by the change.”
