A Pop Tart is essentially a little pastry that has a flaky crust, topped with a glaze, and filled with a sugary flavor.

 

Making them at home lets you avoid a trip to the grocery store, and you get to have some fun in the kitchen.

We love this recipe because its minimal ingredients, most of which are pantry items, and you can modify the flavor based on your own creativity!

Is this a healthier option than the store-bought variety? Not really. But that wasn’t the goal.

The ingredients are fresh, the treat hasn’t been sitting on a shelf for months, and these little squares are far more flavorful.

Notes

The filling for this recipe is intentionally thick so that it doesn’t spill out when cut into or bitten into. If you are swapping a jam or jelly for the filling whisk in the same amount of flour so that it will thicken as it cooks. 
 
You can use this recipe to make individual pop tarts by rolling out the sheets and cutting them into equal desired shapes.
