There is nothing better than a cold glass of homemade sangria. Most recipes call for a combination of berries and citrus, and you need to plan ahead for the refrigeration time. This summer try something new! Watermelon sangria is quick and easy to make, and it doesn’t need to be chilled overnight.
- 8 cups cubed watermelon (about half of a medium melon)
- 1/2-1 cup sugar
- 750 ml bottle of Pinot Grigio (or other white wine)
- 1 cup vodka
- 1/2 cup lime juice
- 1-2 cups water as needed
- Optional: fresh mint leaves pureed with the watermelon
Measure out the 8 cups of watermelon and add to a blender with the sugar. Puree until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh strainer. In a large pitcher or beverage dispenser mix in wine, vodka, and lime juice. Taste test to determine if water is needed. Serve over ice with fresh fruit or simply pour into a glass and enjoy!
