We rounded up our top 5 tips for getting the most out of the Lose It! app. Read on to see how to make your logging experience easier, faster, and more fun!
1. Reorganize your Log (iOS only)
Want your log to look a certain way? The reorganization feature allows you to drag your foods in the order you want, right from your phone!
How: Go to the Log tab and hit the “Edit” button in the bottom right. Use the three lines to the right of a food to drag and reorder the items. You can even pull them into different meals. Organizers, rejoice!
2. Create and Copy Recipes
This is a member favorite: Recipes help you log your complicated food combinations easily, and we have a quick trick to copy your recipes, too!
How:
iOS: In the app, go to the Me tab (or More in iPad) > Foods > Recipes, and tap the + in the upper right corner.
Android: In the app go to the Me section > Foods > Recipes, and tap “New” in the upper right corner.
Start by naming the recipe and selecting the total servings (like ‘8’ for a pizza). Then one by one add the ingredients in their entirety. When you go to log the recipe, you can select the portion that you consumed (like ‘2’ for a slice).
If you’ve already logged a meal and want to turn it into a recipe, there’s an easy way to do that! Tap the meal name on your Log screen to view the meal details (like the image above). Choose the recipe icon (folder icon with an arrow) to export that meal to a recipe and save. Voila!
3. Scan barcodes
We sure do love our barcode scanning abilities! Devices with a front-facing camera have the capability to scan barcodes and add them right to your log.
How: Click the + to add a food to your Log. Select the barcode icon, center the line on your item’s package, and add it to your log.
*Pro Tip: Did you know you can also edit your barcode scanned entries?
iOS: After you scan an item, you’ll be brought to the serving size screen (pictured here). Scroll down to the bottom and select ‘Edit Nutritional Information’. From here you can edit any incorrect nutritional information that you come across. Just click ‘save’ in the top right to save the corrected food to your log
Android: When scanning a product, tap the top bar code icon. Choose “Edit” to Edit nutrients, Name, and Food Image, then tap save.
4. Set reminders.
It’s easy to let your day roll by and forget to log a meal. With reminders, you can get notifications to pop into Lose It! so you can enter your foods for the day. Your device can automatically send you alerts to log your food, update a custom goal and even weigh in! This is a great feature for keeping yourself on track with Lose It!.
How:
iOS: Open Lose It! and go to the Me tab and select More > Reminders. From here, you can set up meal log reminders and custom goal reminders.
Android: Tap Me > More > Reminders. From here you can select the Meal or Custom Goal to set up reminder details.
5. Get the most out of your “Meal” tab.
Lose It! populates all of your recent meals in the Meals tab of the app. So if you’re eating the same meals regularly, it’s really easy to add them to your log!
How: Next time you add a food to your log, check out the columns. Next to “Search” and “My Foods,” you’ll see “Meals” – just find the meal you’re repeating and add the foods to your log!
We hope these tips help you become even more successful with Lose It!.
