We asked our Lose It! members and employees to round up their tips for having the best experience of Lose It! you can have. These will make your logging experience faster, easier, and more fun!

1. Reorganize your log

https://image-api.loseitblog.com/images/11bb0479af32aa9af1b6/2015/04/11.png

We like our logs to look a certain way. The reorganize feature allows you to drag your foods in the order you want, right from your iOS device!

How: Go to “log” and hit “EDIT” in the top left. Use the three lines to the right of a food to drag and reorder items. You can even pull them into different meals.

2. Multi-Add

Use this feature to tap and hold to stay within a list. This is especially helpful if you’re dining out and eating multiple foods from a restaurant, but can be used in any list!

How: Navigate to your food search. Tap an item and hold (don’t double tap). It will bring you to the add screen. Add the food to your log, and it will drop you back in the list you just searched instead of starting your search over.

3. Double Tap to return to today (iOS only).

Whether you’ve gone through your past logs or you’re a Premium member and you’ve gone too far ahead in planning meals, you can get back to today easily.

How: Double tap today’s date, and you’ll be back on today’s screen. Even easier than clicking your heels three times!

4. Create and Copy Recipes.

This is a member favorite! Recipes help you log your complicated food combinations easily, and we have a quick trick to copy your recipes, too!

How:

iOS: In the app, go to Me (or More in iPad) > Foods > Recipes, and tap the + in the upper right corner.

Android: In the app go to menu (3 little dots in the upper right corner OR bottom left on phone in Samsung devices)> Me > Settings > Edit Foods & Exercises > Recipes, and tap “New” in the upper right corner.

Online at LoseIt.com, go to Settings > Recipes > New or visit here. After you’ve made your recipe, you can use the “SHARE” button online at LoseIt.com to share a recipe link on a website or blog, and other members can add it straight to their recipe box.

Start by naming the recipe and selecting the total servings (like ‘8’ for a pie). Then one by one add the ingredients in their entirety. When you go to log the recipe, you can select the portion that you consumed (like ‘1’ for a slice).

Turn your meals into recipes to save time! Tap the meal name on your “Log” screen to view details. Choose the recipe icon (folder icon with an arrow) to export that meal to a recipe and save. Voila!

5. Scan barcodes

We sure do love our barcode scanning abilities! Devices with a front-facing camera have the capability to scan barcodes and add them right to your log.

How: Click the + to add a food to your log. Hit the barcode icon, center the line on your item’s package, and add it to your log.

*Pro Tip: Did you know you can also edit your barcode scanned entries?

iOS: After you scan an item, you’ll see the scanned entry with a bar code icon in the bottom right corner. Tap this icon > Edit Nutrients to edit any incorrect nutrition information that you come across, then hit “Add” to save the corrected food to your log.

Android: When scanning a product, tap the top bar code icon. A window opens to “search” for the food, or edit the nutrients. Choose “Edit” to Edit nutrients, Name, and Food Image.

6. Set reminders.

It’s easy to let your day roll by and forget to log a meal. With reminders, you can get notifications to pop into Lose It! so you can enter your foods for the day. Your device can automatically send you alerts to log your food, update a custom goal and even weigh in! This is a great feature for keeping yourself on track with Lose It!.

How:

iOS: Open Lose It! and go to the Me tab and select More > Reminders. From here,  you can set up meal log reminders and custom goal reminders.

Android: Tap Menu > Profile > Insights > Reminders. From here you can select the Meal or Custom Goal to set up reminder details, then tap SAVE (top right).

Online: Sign into Loseit.com and go to Settings Gear Icon > Reminders (Or sign in and click here: http://loseit.com/#Settings:Reminders%5EReminders)

7. Get the most out of your “Meal” tab.

For meals you regularly have, Lose It! populates them in your “Meals” tab of the app for the past month you’ve logged.

How: Next time you add a food to your log, check out the columns. Next to “Search” and “My Foods,” you’ll see “Meals” – just find the meal you’re repeating and add the foods to your log!

8. Create a custom food or exercise.

For days when you ate a little too much or those unique foods you want to get on your list, you can create a custom food. (Note: you can also do this for exercises).

How:

iOS: In the app, you can go to Me > Foods (or exercises) > Custom foods (or exercises) > +

Android: Tap the menu icon (top right – or bottom left in Samsung) > Me > Settings > Edit Foods & Exercises > Select Custom Foods or Custom Exercises > +

Online, visit LoseIt.com > Sign In > Settings Gear Icon > Custom Foods or Custom Exercises.

9. Share custom foods and recipes

You can share custom foods, recipes and exercise with your friends on Lose It! from your lists, or right from your log.

Android: Tap the Menu icon > Me > Settings > Foods and Exercises > custom foods/exercises or recipes. Select the checkbox, and select the top right share icon to share with friends.
