When Jasmine first decided to try Lose It!, she had just had her second child in two years and felt as though she didn’t recognize herself when she looked in the mirror. Weighing in at 294 pounds, the Nova Scotia native felt her mental health deteriorating as her back and knee pain became almost unbearable. Knowing she needed a change, Jasmine decided to prioritize her health for herself and her family, beginning with understanding what she was putting into her body.
“I used to just eat mindlessly, never realizing what I was putting into my body, how much, or how it was really affecting me.” states Jasmine, “By tracking my foods in the Lose It! app, I was able to actually see the numbers and make more conscious decisions overall. “
As Jasmine learned about the foods she was eating, she was able to make better decisions about what would help her reach her goals. As a self-proclaimed chocolate addict, Jasmine was still able to enjoy the foods she loved in moderation, while still learning to eat healthier and lose weight along the way.
Fast forward to now, Jasmine has lost 120 lbs and maintained this weight loss for over a year. Jeremy, Jasmine’s husband, has joined her on this journey and lost 90 lbs himself, reaching their goals together as they prepare to welcome their third child to the world. Adopting many healthier habits during her journey, Jasmine hopes to pass these habits on to her family, leading by example.
“I always drink water first thing in the morning, for about 30 minutes before breakfast.” she says, “It ensures that I hit my water goal quicker each day, and makes me feel better overall.”
In addition to her weight loss, Jasmine noted some amazing off-the-scale victories along the way. As she worked hard towards her goals by exercising and eating right, Jasmine was able to stop taking her medications for anxiety.
“I am now able to use different outlets for stress,” says Jasmine, “it’s been a life saver.”
As a Certified Nutrition Coach and Behavior Change Wellness Coach, Jasmine is committed to motivating others towards their weight loss goals. Through her instagram channel alone, she motivates thousands of people every day by showing them what’s possible if they prioritize their health.
“Take each day one step at a time!” says Jasmine, when asked what advice she’d give to those starting out, ”Don’t overwhelm yourself, remind yourself everyday that you are capable and always strive for PROGRESS, not perfection.”
