71 lbs. lost
Mary, a 60-year-old retired school teacher from Arkansas, credits Lose It! for helping her find balance, both in terms of what she eats and how she incorporates exercise and physical activity in her daily life.
When a personal tragedy struck her in 2005, Mary went into a downward emotional spiral. At first, she couldn’t eat, and then she began to binge. She knew she was eating due to emotion, and wanted to break out of her poor eating habits and find her way back to a healthy lifestyle. With her husband by her side, motivating her to do better, Mary decided to make informed food choices and developed a plan to be more active. She knew that her late son would be so happy that she was on the path to a healthier lifestyle.
Mary started tracking her food with Lose It! and signed up for a local gym. With her new habit of logging and regularly tracking her food, she became much more aware of calories and macros and soon replaced the donuts and cupcakes she had once been eating for breakfast with healthier options such as protein-filled shakes, overnight oats, and eggs.
I’m 60! I eat better, drink more water, and started lifting weights…making sure I move with intention every day because I’m ready to be fit and healthy.” – Mary
These days, Mary loves going to the gym and has started lifting weights, something she never did before. She “moves with intention” in her daily activities and has been staying properly hydrated using the water tracking feature in the app. Mary plans on taking it “10 pounds time”, continuing to use Lose It! to educate herself on eating a nutritious and balanced diet in reasonable portions. “I’m no longer eating ice cream or dessert EVERY night,” says Mary, “Instead, I eat three healthy meals and one snack throughout the day, making sure that I’m getting in the right amount [for me] of vegetables, protein, and complex carbohydrates.”
